Courier Parcel Size Limits in Malaysia (2026): Will Your Box Even Be Accepted?
Short answer: every major Malaysian courier caps parcels at around 30 kg, but weight is almost never what gets a parcel rejected — size is. The rule that matters is the sum of dimensions: length + width + height added together. As of September 2026, from the couriers’ own published terms: J&T Express (EZ) allows a sum of 300 cm with no side over 120 cm; Pos Laju allows a sum of 250 cm with no side over 150 cm (limits revised in February 2026); Ninja Van allows a sum of just 200 cm with no side over 100 cm; Flash Express allows a sum under 300 cm, no side over 200 cm, and takes up to 50 kg. A big cargo box that one courier accepts without comment can be turned away at pickup by another — same parcel, different rulebook. This guide puts real carton box sizes against each limit so you know before the rider arrives.

That’s a lost day at best. Here’s how to never have that conversation.
The three numbers on every courier’s rulebook
Couriers publish three limits, and your parcel must clear all of them:
- Maximum weight — usually 30 kg. If you’ve read our guide on how heavy a moving box should be, you know a box you can’t lift safely is a box packed wrong anyway. Weight is rarely the binding limit.
- Maximum single side — no one edge of the parcel may exceed a set length. This catches long, thin items: curtain rails, shelving, rolled mats.
- Maximum sum of dimensions — length + width + height added together. This is the one that rejects ordinary big boxes, and the one almost nobody checks.

The 2026 limits, courier by courier
These figures come from each courier’s own website or published terms, checked the day this guide was written. They do change — Pos Laju’s limits changed in February 2026 — so treat this table as a snapshot and confirm on the courier’s own page before you print waybills for anything borderline.

Three things worth noticing:
- Ninja Van’s 200 cm sum is by far the tightest standard limit. Parcels that sail through J&T and Pos Laju can fail Ninja Van.
- Next-day services live in a different world. J&T’s EX service caps the sum at 90 cm with no side over 30 cm — that’s small-box territory only. Don’t assume the express option takes the same parcel the standard one does.
- Marketplace channels can differ from walk-in rates. Parcels booked through Shopee or other platforms sometimes run under their own negotiated limits (Ninja Van’s marketplace terms, for instance, allow a 300 cm sum). The table above is for parcels you book directly.
Exceeding the limit doesn’t always mean rejection — Pos Laju’s notice says contract-customer parcels over the weight or longest-side limit that get picked up anyway attract a RM50 surcharge. But counter drop-offs over the limit are simply refused, and most riders won’t gamble on a parcel their depot might bounce back.
Which box clears which courier
Here are common carton sizes from our range with the sum of dimensions computed from each box’s catalogue size. One honest caveat: these are the box’s dimensions as sold. A packed parcel measures slightly more — flaps bulge, tape rounds the corners, and the courier measures the parcel as it arrives, not the box as it left our rack. If a box sits within a few centimetres of a limit, treat it as over.

The practical read: everything up to ALP 6 clears every standard courier service with room to spare. The two Jumbo XXL cargo boxes are the edge cases — they’re built for lorry moves and bulk cargo, and if you courier one, the courier choice suddenly matters. And remember from the volumetric guide that a box this size bills at its volumetric weight anyway: the T760 works out to about 73 kg billable, so a courier is rarely the economic way to send one even where it’s accepted.
Five habits that keep parcels from bouncing
- Measure the packed parcel, not the empty box. Tape a bulging flap flat before the rider measures it. An overstuffed box gains 2–4 cm easily — enough to tip a borderline parcel over.
- Add the three sides, don’t eyeball volume. A long flat parcel can look modest and still fail on a single-side cap; a cube can look huge and pass everything.
- Two medium boxes beat one giant box. Splitting a load across two medium cartons usually costs less in shipping than one oversized parcel — and neither risks rejection. The volumetric guide has the cost math.
